Dr. Fontaine is an Obstetrician/Gynecologist, specializing in the prevention and non-surgical treatment of chronic conditions, including diabetes, elevated cholesterol and obesity in female patients of all ages. Prior to becoming the Medical Director of Lifestyle Medicine at Northwestern Medical Center, Elisabeth became a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine to assist her patients in achieving their health and wellness goals. Her progress through the Health and Wellness discipline continues to evolve today. Throughout her career, Elisabeth has published multiple Scientific Communications on exercise, metabolic rate, thermogenesis, body fat, glucose, aerobic power, and physical inactivity and has presented the success she has seen with a program she designed to lower cholesterol, BMI, and waist circumference through combined weekly health education, coaching, and directed exercise. Her interest in Lifestyle stems from her background in Physical Education, having a Master’s Degree in Obesity and exercise physiology, continued education in Anti-Aging and plant based nutrition as well as her personal interest in physical fitness as an avid hiker, runner, skier, and cyclist. Elisabeth artfully combines her interest in Medicine with her knowledge of Lifestyle into her practice and community by encouraging patients to change and by helping them develop better Lifestyle to ultimately improve their health.
