This summer, RiseVT in Windham County is partnering with Food Connects, Windham Southeast School District, In-Sight Photography, The River Gallery School of Arts, and Circus Yoga to garden and bring together community members throughout the summer for garden-themed art workshops and activities at community and school gardens around the region. This art series is paired with open garden hours where volunteers are able to help maintain the many school gardens while students and teachers are on summer vacation.
Thanks to In-Sight Photography, participants created Cyanotype sun prints from natural materials like leaves, rocks, roots, and flowers. In-Sight Photography will continue to host weekly self-directed art projects for four weeks through the summer.
The summer art series will also include weekly group art projects with the River Gallery School of Arts. These projects will include painting a group garden mural, creating and illustrating books about the life cycle of a plant, and creating posters about bugs found in the garden. There will also be two weeks of the Human Art of Play where students will tune in to their environment and embody the elements and plants around them through yoga, dance, and circus arts.
