We had a blast bringing family yoga and live music to the Richmond Farmers Market with thanks to a grant from RiseVT. On August 16 and 23, Pippa Dorfman who owns Stepping Stone Yoga Studio in Jeffersonville taught an all ages yoga class. Plus, she brought her hand-crafted hula hoops! Kids and adults alike stretched and turned their yoga bodies into animals, getting a little bit silly with butterfly poses, downward dog (woof woof!), and “cat-cow”.

Visiting musicians, Kuf Knotz and Christine Elise from Philadelphia, brought their band of soul/classical/rap music. Their lyrics are all based on positivity and community building. Their kid-friendly set inspired people of all ages to dance, and to sit and enjoy themselves while listening to their music. Kuf is a spoken word artist and rapper, while Christine is a classical harpist and vocalist.

Birth Love Family, based in Richmond, produced the gathering. The two stops at the farmers market were part of a family yoga and music tour. The goal was to inspire people of all ages to feel into their bodies and engage in activities oriented toward health and mindfulness. And it worked!

We successfully inspired people to move, dance, stretch, build community, listen to music and make art (and blow bubbles!). All the while, Birth Love Family creator Shaina Levee promoted their upcoming event B. Love Family Festival. The festival celebrates kind-hearted fun for all ages through health and wellness activities and education.

Feedback from farmers market attendees was off the charts! One regular attendee said it was the best music he had heard at the farmers market. Market manager Leah thoroughly enjoyed the culture and vibe the musicians and yoga brought to the market. RiseVT booth staff were thrilled with the good use of their grant money. We are so thankful!
