Last month RiseVT partnered with Community Hope and Action in Townshend for the first time to host a family fun day and barbeque. Community Hope and Action works to instill hope by creating opportunities to support and connect everyone within their community. Their vision is to build a community where people work together to experience and celebrate life to the fullest.

The family get together and BBQ helped to maintain this vision. Thirty-four people attended the event at the Townshend Dam and Recreation Area. Kids and adults played field day activities that were presented by Elisha Underwood, RiseVT, Windham county program manager. Everyone participated in a getting to know you game of Human BINGO which then morphed into 18 rounds of regular BINGO. Some people took a hike and a family took home the crytogram, created by the Brattleboro Area Prevention Coalition Coordinator, Rolf Parker.

The event ended with a community BBQ and five $10.00 gift certificates were raffled off for Dutton’s Farm stand that provide local fresh produce in Newfane, Vermont. Overall, it was a day filled with community building among good food and friends.
