RiseVT is very excited to be celebrating Bike Month in Enosburg throughout the month of May this year! We will be hosting several bike rides along the Missisquoi River Rail Trail, encouraging community members to bike to work and school, and we will also be handing out free bike helmets to individuals who need a properly fitted helmet. We are hoping that this month of biking will bring awareness and excitement to existing recreational assets and infrastructure in Enosburg.
The planning of Bike Month began after the Village and Town of Enosburg received a Better Connections grant on March 1, 2018. This grant is sponsored by the Vermont Agency of Transportation and the Agency of Commerce and Community Development and will be utilized to complete a master plan for the Village Center through a community visioning process to improve, connect and promote transportation options and recreation resources as a community revitalization strategy.
There will be three main objectives with the Better Connections grant:
- Improving bike/pedestrian transportation options so that they are safer, more accessible and linked to local recreation amenities through proposed wayfinding or other physical improvements
- Streetscape enhancements that will improve pedestrian experiences on Main Street in Enosburg
- New marketing and branding of Enosburg to enhance tourism and commerce in the Village Center
These outcomes will be directly tied to improved community health in Enosburg and we hope that community members join in the excitement about existing recreational assets by participating in Bike Month activities. Be sure to check out our calendar of events and come join us for a bike ride and enjoy the outdoors in Enosburg this May!
